The Mail Bag! Welcome

Hate Mail You have got to be sh*tting me! Talk about petty. Have any of you guys read a HP book, or seen one of the films? I doubt it. If you had, you'd know that HP promotes a lot of ideals that many kids lack - friends above fame/fortune, good over evil, all that stuff. As for the magic - it's a STORY! It's fiction! I bet you guys would have been lining up to burn witches back then. Spend more time with your kids, teach them right and wrong, teach them to accept others for what they are, then let them make the decisions. Otherwise you may wish to learn the word indoctrination - cos that's what you're doing. From Lee
Penney As to the
"good values," there are few works of literature with absolutely
no redeeming qualities. The fact that the Potter books promote the value
of friendship does not negate other features such as that they also promote
stealing. From my point of view, the Potter books are rather values-challenged. How many parents stop their kids watching the news? Or the recent coverage of the war? How many stop them playing computer games? Not half as many as ban them from reading HP I'll wager. And if it gets kids away from their computers and reading again, surely that's a good thing. And please
don't call me a "silly boob" because, unlike your experience,
I am a reasonably intelligent HP fan, and rather older than the intended
age range. I could say that my experience of HP haters tends to uncover
people filled with jealousy and narrow-mindedness, but that would generalising. People are entitled to arguing their opinion, and if you cannot comprehend the fact that other people don't like Potter you should be slapped with a wet fish. All books
promote some illegal activity, name a book that doesn't. Fan
